Close Encounters of the Wild Kind - Multiple Dates

Weekends in May, daily June - August then weekends in September.  Various times.  Roger Williams Park Zoo. Guests can now choose to feed the giraffes or the harbor seals for $20 per person, or experience an interactive close encounter with one of the Zoo's small animal ambassadors for $10 per person. See Zoo website for times for each encounter.  There is limited capacity for all of the encounters, and tickets must be purchased at Zoo admissions on the day of your visit. Encounters are very popular, so visitors would be wise plan their day so that they can buy their tickets soon after the Zoo opens at 9 am. There are some age restrictions and other requirements for safety and fees for all close encounters are in addition to regular Zoo admission charges.

Join the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) for a unique opportunity to learn about children of color who are waiting for adoption in your community. The session is free and open to the public. Come speak with families who have adopted from foster care, and social workers from local agencies. Light breakfast will be served.

Earth Day is officially in April, but our event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May.  Activities and programs on a wide variety of practices pertaining primarily to sheep farming, shearing, and the processing of wool.  Demonstrations will include spinning, weaving, rug hooking and rug braiding.  Activities especially for children are washing fleece, carding, spinning and felting wool, along with making crafts using wool and recycled materials.  Hot dogs and refreshments will be available.
